Theater Set

In this program at Franklin High School, twenty teens learned the ropes of set building and theater tech. Creating a stage production that can reach each audience member in a large auditorium presents specific challenges in the design and creation of the set, lighting and props. And of course, there’s no curtain call without some very involved rigging work to operate a 30 foot wall of velvet!

Students had the remarkable experience of learning from industry professionals from Intiman Theater and the stage-hands union, IATSEs Technical Theater Training Trust. The production went off without a hitch, and the students walked away having experienced the sense of community that occurs when working together on hands on cooperative projects – and some really technical skills!
